ABOUT ZIO CASUAL ITALIAN

A Family Tradition

Since 1946, our family has served authentic Italian food to legions of patrons. Originating from the eastern seaside town of Castiglione in Italy, the Consilvio family migrated to New York in 1907, bringing with them traditional Italian recipes, and the foundation of our family business.

Uncle Adolf "Duff" Consol's 'Hot Pies' have been an upstate New York sensation, since the opening of our family's first restaurant, Duff's Tavern in 1946 in Endicott, New York. Once referred to as "Maker of the Best Pizza in the World", Uncle Duff was beloved by many. So when Jim and Teri Consol decided to open a new restaurant in Charlotte, North Carolina, it was named in honor of Uncle (Zio) Duff

Zio is known to many Charlotteans as a true hidden neighborhood gem, and by New York transplants as a taste of home.

Nearly 10 years after opening, Zio Casual Italian is still a rare dining experience where dishes are made from scratch, the service staff knows you by name, and the owners greet you with a smile.

We are a family at Zio...
and you are the most important part!
